From the age of sixteen, David completed 12 years service in the Royal Air Force servicing air radar equipment. On completion of his contract he joined Xerox where he managed various areas within the photocopying and office equipment business.
After retiring early, he became involved in local government, firstly as Parish Councillor with the intention of making a difference for local communities.
David was elected to Charnwood Borough Council in 2003 to represent the Forest Bradgate Ward and in 2005 elected to the County Council representing the Bradgate Division. He retired from the County Council after 12 years during which time he was chairman of the County Council. On his retirement he had the great honour of becoming an Honorary Alderman of the County of Leicestershire in recognition of the eminent services carried out through the performance of his duties as a member of the County Council.
David was Mayor of Charnwood for the year 2020/21
