Anstey says NO to 420 more houses

Sign this petition - Bradgate Conservatives have serious concerns about these planning applications.

There are 3 more proposed sites for outline planning permission for a total of 420 houses on land off Groby Road, Anstey.

There are also planning applications submitted for a further 500 houses on land off Bradgate Road, Anstey.

We have already seen more than 660 houses built in Anstey since 2011.

We feel that we have taken our fair share of development within our village.

These additional houses will create serious traffic congestion on our already congested roads and village centre.

These applications will damage the rural, village feel of Anstey and Newtown Linford.

Developers already view Anstey as a town but we are very much a village. We are ‘The Gateway to Charnwood Forest’.

Consequently, we would like as many residents as possible to send in their comments and concerns.

Please support us in trying to stop this over development of our village.

What your Borough and County Councillors say:

Deborah says “This is yet another parcel of agricultural land on our village outskirts that developers are proposing to be built upon. Any more building will increase traffic flow both in and out of The Nook, on roads that were not designed to carry this much traffic. Our village cannot take any excessive housing development. Please support us to save our village from further development”.

Paul says “These three planning applications on land North and South of Groby Road will mean that the village will now have a total of 5 proposed planning applications for an additional 920 houses, with the two applications on land off Bradgate Road. Our village services just cannot sustain any more additional housing at this level”.

Please focus your comments on material planning considerations as to how these two planning applications will affect you.

Examples are:

  • Highway and Pedestrian Safety
  • Traffic and Parking Issues (The Nook is at severe levels)
  • Impact on Agricultural Land, Green Spaces and Conservation Areas
  • Raised Pollution Levels
  • Impact on our Community
  • Impact on our already stretched Local Services
  • Drainage and Flooding Risks
  • Effect on Trees, Wildlife/Nature Conservation
  • Impact on character or appearance of area
