Cllr Paul Baines is Ward Member for Anstey, for Charnwood Borough Council, and Mayor of Charnwood for 2021-2022. He was elected first in December 2018 in a council by-election, then again 6 months later in May 2019! He was a Member of the Scrutiny Committee and Member of the Budget Scrutiny Panel, and Chair of the Commercialisation Scrutiny Panel, in 2019. Presently, he is Deputy Leader of the Charnwood Conservative Group and Shadow Cabinet Lead for Finance and Investments.  Outside his Council work, Paul is Professor of Political Marketing and Head of Executive Education at the University of Leicester School of Business as well as a published author for Oxford University Press and SAGE Publications. He is married to Ning and in his spare time, enjoys travel, films, and mountain walking.

Paul was Mayor of Charnwood for 2021-2022. Paul and his Mayoress' charities for the year were Marie Curie and Living Without Abuse.
