County Council Election Results May 2021

It is our pleasure to announce that our Deborah Taylor has been re-elected in the County Council elections for the Bradgate division, to serve another 4-year term.

We are delighted to be able to congratulate Deborah on being re-elected with such a large majority. This result is due to the hard work and diligent efforts over the last 4 years in her County Councillor role for the Bradgate area. Deborah achieved an outstanding 2,486 votes, 67% of the total 3,738 votes cast, with a turnout slightly higher than in 2017. She secured her victory with a 1855 majority. The full result can be found here.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the hard work of our volunteers who helped Deborah in the three weeks leading up to the election day, by delivering leaflets and also allowing us to erect posters on their land, to spread our message in the Bradgate villages. I must also pay particular thanks to the disciplined, industrious and strategic efforts of Paul Taylor who was Deborah's agent, to whom so much is owed.

During the 3-week campaign, Deborah and her team, delivered over 14,000 leaflets and 1,600 letters to the postal voters in our area. Our mobile phone apps came into use by giving us some useful, if not tiring statistics, of each person averaging 14,000 steps per day with one day totalling an incredible 21,000 steps: Exhausting days to which the result paid dividend.

We would also like to congratulate our Police & Crime Commissioner candidate, Rupert Matthews, on his win in the Police and Crime Commissioners election for Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland, snatching victory from the outgoing Labour PCC, Lord Willey Bach.

We are planning to celebrate our success with one of our events in the coming months, after the easing of lockdown rules and when it is safe to congregate. We were due to host one of our popular quiz nights with a Fish and Chip supper, prior to lockdown, but regrettably had to cancel it.
